About Me
After 20 years of working in business and finance, I retrained originally as a person-centred counsellor before undertaking further training in psychotherapy. Alongside working in private practice, I have volunteered as a counsellor for charities, including Mind and MKYIS (a youth counselling charity). I work with all ages from 12+.

My professional training includes a certificate and diploma in person-centred counselling and an MSc in Psychotherapy. I also hold an advanced certificate in couples counselling.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical framework.

My Approach

Having studied and practised a number of different approaches to counselling and psychotherapy, including Person-Centred Counselling, Existential Psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, I offer a pluralistic approach. This means that your needs and preferences will influence how we work together.
My person-centred training remains at the core of the work that we do together, and I, therefore, place great importance on creating a warm, friendly, balanced relationship between myself and my client. I believe that providing a safe space for my clients to discuss and process their feelings involves offering empathy, unconditional positive regard, honesty and transparency.

It is important that the client feels that they are working with the right therapist. Sometimes the client may feel that the counsellor is not the right 'fit' for them. I, therefore, offer a free half-hour introductory session to enable the client to decide if they feel we could work well together.
